Artist Talk : Jennifer Sadler

Despite wild and chilly weather, an interested group of people gathered at CASM on Sunday August 9 2015 to hear Jennifer Sadler’s Artist Talk.

Jennifer spoke about the thoughts and processes that lie behind her wonderful exhibition The Sky as a Metaphor, showing at CASM until August 23. She talked about her long-held interest in the sky and the Australian landscape. This dates from when she first arrived in Australia from Scotland as a child and was amazed by the space and light in her new home. Jennifer’s work reflects her ongoing engagement with the sky, clouds, storms, wind and light.

Jennifer discussed the different mediums she uses to achieve her transparent and layered work. There was much interest in her use of encaustic, or beeswax, in many of the pieces on show. It was an inspiring talk enjoyed by all.
